Big Brother is watching you On the Buses
No, not some obscure political reimagining of Blakey...

I was on the bus back this evening and they had a secured flatscreen (behind the bulletproof glass) which alternated promises about news, gossip, quizzes and soap news with live CCTV images from (at least) 5 cameras around the bus.

My god, now I need to put make-up on to go into town and back.

Despite fine offers from pax_draconis I think I'm going to stay in tonight. I'm shattered. I left the house this morning when it was dark, and when I returned it was dark. Bah.

This is the problem with LJ, we all think we are so close, and we know nothing about each other. I'm going to rectify it. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me, something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Do you think you would have liked photography so much in the pre digital days and where do you want to go with your stuff?
kneeshooter From: kneeshooter Date: November 12th, 2004 03:43 pm (UTC) (Link)
I don't think I would have - in the sense that I'm both lazy (take lots of shots) and impatient about seeing results. That doesn't really go with film - or at least the expense of shooting 150-200 shots on film during three songs at a gig would make me broke quickly.

Where do I want to go? I want to be get a rep in certain circles (even if it's just as a goth-band-photo-whore) and to make enough fame/cash to buy the next camera that comes along when I wear this one out (so far 7 months and 12000 shots)! Feed the ego, and feed the tech drive!

How does that compare to what you expected?

What I expected I think!

What do your parents do?

My mother is a Registrar (Marriages/Births/Deaths) etc. and my father works in Import/Export for a shipping company.

Would you consider having laser eye surgery, if money were no object?
kneeshooter From: kneeshooter Date: November 13th, 2004 01:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
In the medium-long term yes. I'm interested in it now, but actually implantable contact lenses appeal more. I'm just not ~sure~ of the technology enough yet.

For myself, I think it's telling that opticians themselves won't touch laser with a bargepole (although you could argue they have a vested interest the other way) - and I don't think it's worth the risk.

Why do you think there is resistance to the idea that photography is a "proper" artform?
kneeshooter From: kneeshooter Date: November 13th, 2004 05:20 pm (UTC) (Link)
I think there's some kind of romantic attachment to so-called fine-arts that don't involve any kind of technology. If the tools haven't changed in hundreds of years then many think they have more validity.

Also, photography isn't just or in all cases art. It can be journalism or record as much as art. Again to some I imagine this raises the important of context and requires interpretaion/consideration - which can be too much like hard work...
