[GPP] Prodigy - Liam who?
Well, about 150 photos of the Prodigy and not a single half-decent one of Liam who spent all evening on a raised platform hiding behind some Macs. This technically contains the three main members of the band as you can see a corner of Liams head in the background.

Still, while the online examples might look a bit grainy - this is mostly down to my self-imposed 50k size limit for online images - these really kick ass. I'm very very happy. Which explains why I'm up past 3am again getting them online.

Of course, with the terms of the contract I can't "publish" these, so if you're offended don't look; and indeed if you are looking in any other capacity than as an interested critical friend then please don't click on the cut link below. The portfolio page may or may not be at http://www.disturbing.org.uk/portfolio-pd-brum04.htm.

The guy at the back looks like an Adam and the Ants reject.

Speaking as a critic, then......

The first two are great, they almost look posed or contrived (but yet don't, cos they are "real").

The last one is probabaly contraband as Mr Stripe Pants is looking .."jolly" !!!!

At least they appear to have had some halfway decent lighting! :-)

Tho' I guess if they're using strobes anyway, a little bit of flash would go unnoticed...

Lighting was excellent. Very little red, and a lot of good white/yellow.

They didn't make heavy use of strobes - and I think most of those in the pit didn't bother with flash even though they had the choice/weights attached to top of camera.

I tend to keep reasonably close to the actual lighting.

Red is annoying because it's not registered very well by the cameras - hence you lose detail. This is why a lot of my red images are also desaturated and tweaked to try and recover as much as possible.

White, Blue, Green and Yellow are much nicer to work with.

In addition - as a B&W shooter - red renders skin tones very badly. Blue-green light suppresses blemishes *and* those are the colours pan/panortho film is most responsive to. It's a win-win.

I wonder how many bands actually know this, and how many would respond to being told, you will look much better in the photos if you make this simple change which won't cost you anything since you'd be setting up coloured lights anyway.

Looks good. What are the band like these days? The new album was 'different' to say the least.

Played a lot of older stuff - 2/3 of the set was "classics". It had the feel to me of a "Hurray we're back and want your money Tour" rather than a "Buy our new album it's great Tour" - if you get the difference.

Review-monkey will have something up soon and I'll spam my LJ with a link when that's sorted.

Those are cool. :)

These are great! 1 & 2 have really strong composition and I'm sure that if you put up some of your non-gig stuff, that would show there too. Once you start thinking about it, it comes through automatically in other stuff! Cool!

Cool. I've only seen the Prodigy live once, ages ago, but they were brilliant. I didn't realise they were touring again. I should start paying more attention.
