Nice work, esp. the first one, very atmospheric.

I have felt in a bit of a rut shooting lately, but my latest adventure should be up tomorrow.

Thanks - I was really rushed to shoot Leech Woman - one track/five minutes. I consider myself lucky to get ~anything~.

How does it work with small bands and venues, do you just show up and shoot? I've usually dropped an email beforehand, but I see a lot of people with digicams, cameraphones, etc, and they don't seem to bother.

I try to arrange passes in advance - just to be sure. This particular venue they didn't search bags or anything - but I'm very wary as I don't want to give my baby up for "looking after".

Tragically it all seems to be based on the "bulk" of your camera gear, not your profession, attitude etc.

I've noticed the same thing, but it's often worked in my favour too, being allowed through police lines because I look the part for example.

A big camera also seems to act as a magnet for people who want to ask inane questions like what's it like to be a photographer, just when I'm trying to blend into the background or set up a shot!

Great pictures. Again. :)

Think you need to further explore the hidden depths of 'bass player' though ;)

:-) With "bands with more members" I tend to work my way around the group - focussing on a different member each gig.

So - invite me to another one and I'll make a special effort ;-)

Mind you this one is pretty good for live IMO.

'tis a fine photo :)

I'm going to get Mike to teach me how to leap around like some kind of crazed sweating gothic baboon at the front of the stage; there'll be no avoiding me then ;)

Oh please no - if there's one thing I hate in subjects more than red light it's leaping like a baboon.

I had enough of that with Nick Cave - only had two songs to shoot and he never stopped for a moment. Composition went straight out of the window...
