I dispute the assertion that "free market" and "pro-war" are in any way related.

I'd lay down money you can find a statistically significant correlation between them. Many political beliefs which are not logically connected correlate strongly. If someone is pro-choice they are much more likely to be anti-capital punishment. There's no particularly logical reason for this but it's true nonetheless.

The difference is that you can find people easily enough who believe that war is never justified, even on the moderate left, but you can't find people on the right, apart from the occasional lunatic, who think that war is always justified. The term "pro-war" is nothing but hysterical slander. The general right-wing position is "sometimes not fighting a war is worse than fighting one" and I don't see how any reasonable person could argue with that.

The term "pro-war"...

Oh rubbish. Sorry, "pro-war" means "inclined to side with the position 'war is justified' more than the average member of the population". It no more means "someone who thinks that war is always justified" than "pro-abortion" means "thinks every foetus should be killed" or "pro-capital punishment" means "thinks every criminal should be executed."

So, we are indeed almost diametrically opposed. No surprise there then. :)

And I dispute the assertion that being anti the European project is necessarily a right wing reactionary position.

I was thinking something similar.
