Nice portraits.

Thanks :-) Looking at the results I can allow myself to get a little more confident.

7180 is my favourite, I like the way the catchlights in the piercing and the eye work together, and there's enough background bokeh to create depth.

You're one of those people who can use bokeh in polite conversation and keep a straight face aren't you?

I'm no Leica-fondler! :-P

Out of focus areas are good for drawing attention to what you consider the important parts of the photo, but so long as they're smooth and there's nothing distracting in them, that's all I really care about. I am all about the ultra-thin depth of field!

Nice lighting and some interesting crops! I particularly like the eye.

Was this digital or b&w film?

What is this film thing you talk of? Never used it (well, that's technically a lie, but accurate enough).

I did however use a lazy method of converting from colour - desaturating rather than using Channel Mixer.

Light was a large SW facing window, so very simple.

Heh. ;o)

*nods*

Having a large source of natural light is always nice.

Now that I've got a nice portrait lens, I need to find the time to visit and shoot all the people who've offered to be guinea pigsmodels for me...

I swapped lenses a lot for that set - 24-70, 50, 85, 70-200 and 100 all got used :-)

Very patient model!

Nice set of pictures. I think that my favorite is 7048. There is a good framing effect from Hannah's arm, with the light side and the dark side making it more apparent.

Those pics are beautiful, you really do her justice ^_^

I'm sure she'll be very very happy.
