Operation C2C
This now looks more achievable. Although I chose a bakingly hot day; didn't take enough drink or wallet/cash sufficient to buy a drink on the way, I did manage to comfortably cycle 19.44 miles in 1:15:39 (15.4 mph Av/33.5 mph Max).

I know feel sufficiently able to announce contemplation of the C2C Cycle Route of roughly 140 miles from West to East Coast. My tentative plan is for autumn this year, and to take three days over a weekend. Anyone else care to join me?

Might get a new bike first though - something a little lighter where the back wheel wasn't fixed on badly by an idiot.

"Ooooh" you're interested?

"Ooooh, I'm impressed, and might be interested, if I thought my bicycle, fitness, and finances could hold up ..." .. I love cycling holidays. Or rather, I think I like cycling holidays, although it's hard to say since my chain broke and I had a violent digestive irritation on my previous and only cycling holiday, so it's more a guess than a statement of fact. :)

I also think I like cycling holidays - but a cycling weekend is a good way to check.

Most expensive part is going to be travel to the North of England. I'm assured B&Bs enroute are cheap (£15 per night cheap).

Are we allowed to follow in the convertable Smart car? :-)

Tragically most of the route is traffic-free. So no :-P

I have decided to take up cycling again, but as I haven't done any since I was about 16 I am suspecting I might not make it as far as the shop... and I can walk to that.

So I'll count you in then? Talking 2-3 months to get to 40 miles a day?

Hur hur.

To be honest, I have no idea how difficult it's going to be to get back into. I guess I'll find out once we've retrieved Jamie's bike from his parent's house. It's all rather flat and cycle pathy around here, which is encouraging.
