OK, I'm going to give in and ask.

Why is it that you take all of your gig photos at such an angle ? Obviously, it's not always going to be possible to take photos dead square-on, but it alawys seems as if the angle is something you deliberately go for ?

I'm just curious :)

Well, to start with I don't :-P

I think it was about the time of Nick Cave last year when I was having such problems getting him to stay still that I caught a few at an angle and liked the look.

I've tried "going straight" again a bit since, but using the hypotenuse length maximises use of screen estate, and I think makes the viewer "look" more at the image.

Maximising the amount the figure fills the image also removes background - which in the case of Junktion 7 was very, very dull.

Now of course you're going to point out that the straight ones work better :-)

I wasn't going to say the straight ones were necessarily better, no :) However, if I'm looking at an entire page of photos, it is a bit strange if they're all tilted over (even if each individual photo is better for it). If people are going to be looking at the whole collections often, I'd include a few more straighties just for variety :)

(PS I have no artistic judgement and should probably be ignored.)

I appreciate all opinions. I'll be happy people are looking at the whole collection :-)

I think the Abigail's Mercy set is probably worse for that than the SBA one this time around.

I'll try some more straighties tonight assuming I actually get into the gig...

One more reason - the BBC like their landscapes - and it's kinda a way to get a "more portraity landscape" that's better framed.

(I'm bound to think of more...)

Fingers crossed. I've got to make a phone-call later to confirm.
