It seems Clear Channel (that paragon of free thinking and "not right wing christian propaganda - honest") have bought the Mean Fiddler group. There's a triumph for free speech and expression then. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4426477.stm

I had such a bad experience at Mean Fiddler (Camden?) years ago that I am still loth to give them money for any of their enterprises.

Just last night, I was saying that MF were basically morally neutral (relative to CC)! So much for that!

Is Prince Philip basically morally neutral compared to CC?

Mark W: So this means that Clear Channel own 38% of the Glastonbury festival? I can see this ending well, I've heard that the Glastonbury organisers have never got on with MF (who Sarah knows to be a bunch of arseholes) in that marriage of convience so I hope this will speed up the divorce. *crosses fingers*

One day there will be one chain of pubs, one chain supermarket, one chain music store etc.
We will all wear Gap clothes and eat at Tacobell, hail the new future!!

Mean Fiddler were also one of the main offenders for turning the cold water off in clubs back in the early 90s. Funny how so many of the gigs they do security for end up in riots as well...

Not just clubs. They took over organising Universe and Big Love IIRC.

Radio Killed The Radio Star

I really like to read articles on www.salon.com in regards to ClearChannels marketplace activities.

This article http://archive.salon.com/tech/feature/2002/10/01/nab/index.html is particularly pertinent at a time in the UK when the radio market has not long been deregulated ... and mergers and buying sprees are about to begin!
