Cars - Corrosive Shame — LiveJournal
Therapy for Life
There are times when using a car is preferable to using a bicycle.

This morning was one of those.

Car #1 - "Hang on" says Simon "This is leaning really far to the right. Something is wrong." Stop. Check tyres to see if there is a flat. Get back into car. Nasty grinding noise continues. Drive 50m up the road, turn around, drive home and stop.

I know - there's another car in the garage.

Car #2 - "Hmmm. I am turning the key and nothing is happening other than the lights blink on." Bother, the battery seems to be nearly completely flat. Bother again. (Or at least words to that effect).

Bicycle it is then...

...and phone the AA on return. I've given them much of my money over the past 8 years - so they'd better come through.

However, expensive car repairs are not what I need in ski season.

Get back into cat.

Here's your problem. Try using a motor vehicle rather than a feline.

You'd better not have bust Seaweed, buddy!

Suspension spring thing had sheared. I found a sharp chunk of metal on the driveway that looks like it was once part of a spring.

"Risk of blow-out" said the AA man. "No shit..." I thought.

My first year of car ownership, I called the RAC out three times, when the limit for fair use was four. The last callout was three weeks before my renewal was due. So when my renewal came round, I got a letter saying "we know you haven't used us lately, but you might be glad of us one day." I spotted a form letter. :)

But did the letter work?

Why didn't you run some jump leads from the car with the duff suspension to the car with the flat battery? Surely better than actual physical effort!

Well, I thought as I was calling the AA out anyway I'd get them to do both.

In the end they tried that without any joy and proclaimed it b0rked.
