Corrosive Shame
Therapy for Life
Mainly I sweated and destroyed my goth anti-tan through being out in the daylight too much.

It was, for those of you who understand these things, another Maelstrom event. This one and the one before it have been especially nice being 25 minutes from my own bed, which can't be bad. As it was thoiugh while a lot of the backroom stuff (I could tell you, but...) went very well I was less than happy with much of my photography. This isn't a fish for compliments btw.

I went, I snapped, I chatted, I made things happen. I got too hot, I helped pack a truck, I gained more respect for some people and lost respect for others. Usual story really.

I worry sometimes I can't talk about anything other than photography, I worry that I'm a bit crap sometimes and I worry I'm a dull one-trick pony. There was a letter in this weeks Amateur Pornographer which said (to paraphrase) "Just because someone has once taken good photographs doesn't mean that they should be above criticism". Wise words. Not a problem I'll have while there are still booze and nyarbaggytep and the world, fortunately.

Now, the decision is to go to a dull user forum, or do some work. I'm strangely tempted for the latter considering how dull it was yesterday afternoon; and how there are other things occupying my mind that I shouldn't pander to - but am ultimately weak.

The full set of photos are at http://www.disturbing.org.uk/images/lrp/pd/shenanigans/index.htm and behind the cut are some I like.

I do enjoy your LARPing photos very much, they're like movie stills, which is one of my favourite genres.

Also, people who haven't taken (m)any good photos probably shouldn't spam LJ communities claiming to be some sort of guru on the subject. Those as can, shoot...

I liked many of your photos, but not the ones you took of me. There's only one where I didn't know you were there and immediately panic.

Thank you very much for helping with my attacks though! Assaulting through furniture was surprisingly fun.

I didn't do you many favours with the photos did I? Sorry :-P

Your fascination with crawling under tents never ceases to amaze me.

I've given in, I'll be playing the July one if that's ok, just waiting for My Mailshot to come back on line.

I always marvel at the people who during events like that on a hot weekend like the last one can wear heavy costumes, prosthetics and makeup without falling over.
Very atmospheric pics, as usual. Too bad I couldn't find anyone I know.

Who or what is the character in IMG_1768? That's a fantastically cheesy costume.

Some kind of pimp. I didn't get too close...

Those photos made me quite sad. So many people I know, and some for 10 years now, and everyone looks a little older, a bit more life-worn and somehow less joyful.

The fact that you buy 'Amateur Photographer' and not 'Professional Photographer' magazine tell me you don't consider yourself beyond reproach.

I do think that an even bigger improvement would be to have a big-blue-bird-in-unfeasibly-hot-costume instead of 1788, which appears to have some huge miserable lump in the middle of it!

Good to see you at the weekend - apologies for no improved coinage!

Damn - the firewall blocks disturbing.org - could you mail me any decent ones of me or the Boy?
