Boing! went Simon
Today seemed to be going so well. Brrrring went the alaram clock, up I bounced, shower, select shirt and tie. Discard suit jacket in favour of fleece.

Boing! Out of the door, out to the bus stop.

"It's a bit quiet" thinks Our Hero. "How long have I got until my train?"

*checks watch*

About 90 minutes.

So, after having conducted a carefully controlled experiment I can reveal that not changing the time on your alarm clock can help you expereince exactly how quiet the roads are 5:15 in the morning.

To cheer myself up I blagged my way a First Class breakfast on the train, and had no problems making any of my connections.

Before I realised I'd adjusted my PC clock thinking it was wrong.

Was the night shift a subtle pastiche of the day shift? Your seat being occupied by a lanky metaller muttering about his odd pet dogs?

You were talking to me on MSN on Sunday and I mentioned getting up an hour earlier than usual because the clocks had gone back. And you call me ignorant of the outside world!

I had no problem remembering. I checked my PC clock, my laptop clock, my work mobile phone clock and my watch.

I just didn't have cause to check my personal mobile clock - and that's the one I use as an alarm clock.

I'm not ignorant, just mostly bereft of common sense.

And be kind to me - I'm still partially in shock - I was in our common room at lunchtime and picked up a copy of the Daily Mail to read. Now I feel soiled.

Now that was just silly. You have my complete sympathies.
